Infinity Ward said on July 24 that Modern Warfare 4 would be hands on at the Esports World Cup in Paris from August 5 to 9, with Kill Block as the map at the Modern Warfare 4 booth. The official Call of Duty account amplified it the same afternoon. That window opens today, and it sits on top of the Black Ops 7 tournament running at the same event, so Paris is carrying both the current competitive title and the next one at once.
Confirmed. Infinity Ward posted the dates and the venue directly on July 24 and the official Call of Duty account amplified it the same afternoon, so the booth, the map, and the August 5 to 9 window are official. Note that we are logging it as the window opens, not as it was announced.
Why Hardcore SnD cares
Nothing here is a Search and Destroy showcase. Kill Block is the rotating-slab map, and every public showing of it so far has been built around Gunfight formats. What Paris is worth to a one-life player is intelligence: a few hundred people putting hands on a near-final build and posting clips of it, five days out from a beta we can actually queue.
- Visibility check. Infinity Ward said the blinding muzzle flash from the Fanatics Fest build was a bug and that muzzle smoke opacity was reduced for preview sessions. Paris footage is the first look at whether that actually holds up in a room full of players.
- Movement and time to kill. Press hands-on has described a grounded movement system and a time to kill that reads slower than Modern Warfare 2 at range. Community clips are a rougher but larger sample than a press session.
- The Kill Block question. Which modes Kill Block actually supports at launch is still contested, and Infinity Ward has said it will be used for more than Gunfight. A show floor is exactly where a mode select screen gets photographed.
What is not confirmed
The posts name the booth, the map, and the dates. They do not name a mode, a playlist, a build version, or whether Search and Destroy is on the floor at all, and we should not read any of that into them. Our own tracked entry on Kill Block's mode support already carries a conflict: some reporting has it running only 3v3 and 10v10 formats with broader modes arriving in later seasons, other reporting calls it a 6v6 map that supports Search at launch. Paris does not settle that by existing.
What would verify the mode question
An official Call of Duty mode matrix for Kill Block, a beta playlist listing on August 21 that names its modes, or clear on-floor footage of a Kill Block mode select. Until one of those lands, treat Kill Block as a Gunfight-first map with an open question attached, and plan your beta test list around the modes Activision has already named for the beta, Search and Destroy among them.
Early access beta opens August 21 for pre-orders and the open beta runs August 28 to September 1. Paris is the last look before either of those.
