DISPATCH 2026.08 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: CONFIRMED

Warzone got the handling pass. Multiplayer got a hold.

The later of Saturday's two Modern Warfare 4 beta updates is filed entirely under Warzone: faster ADS strafe, quicker sprint to fire on most guns, and a small sprint speed bump across weapon classes. The multiplayer note from earlier the same day carries the opposite message, a deliberate hold on weapon changes while Infinity Ward watches Friday's time to kill pass settle.

Two beta updates went out on Saturday, August 29, and they point in different directions. The later one is a Warzone update, and it is the one with the gunplay in it: weapons come up faster, guns fire sooner out of a sprint, and you strafe quicker while aiming down sights. The multiplayer update from earlier the same day says the team is deliberately leaving weapons alone for a day while it watches what Friday's time to kill pass did to the game.

Confidence

Confirmed. Both updates sit on Infinity Ward's own Modern Warfare 4 beta patch notes page, read in full this run. One caution on how far to carry it: the handling numbers are listed under the update's Warzone heading, and Infinity Ward has said in the same patch notes that Warzone movement is close to multiplayer but not identical. These are Warzone values, not a preview of a multiplayer patch.

What actually shipped

  • ADS strafe Aim down sights movement speed up 6 to 10 percent depending on weapon class.
  • Sprint speed Up 3 to 5 percent by weapon class, with an extra 3.5 percent on dedicated melee sprint.
  • Sprint to fire Han 86 from 210ms to 185ms, M4 from 210ms to 180ms, Kastov 762 from 210ms to 190ms, Patriot XMR from 210ms to 190ms.
  • ADS speed ISO Nightshade 190ms to 175ms, X-58 Nyx 200ms to 180ms, PPSH-41 220ms to 190ms, FiNN LMG 300ms to 270ms, Rezi 12 240ms to 210ms.
  • Killstreak warnings Warning radius cut on Bombing Run, Impact Warhead and Artillery Beacon so the alert matches the real danger area.

Why Hardcore SnD cares

Sprint to fire and ADS speed are the two numbers that decide a one life mode. In a respawn playlist a slow gun costs you a trade you get back thirty seconds later. In Search and Destroy it costs the round, and then it costs the man advantage in the next one. A 25ms cut on the M4 is not a patch note detail, it is the difference between winning a corner and dying to someone who was already holding it.

  • Site entries Faster ADS strafe rewards players who peek wide and hold an angle while moving, which pulls value away from the pre-aimed hold.
  • Rotations Sprint speed changes move rotation timings, and rotation timing is the whole planted-bomb retake conversation.
  • Gun choice When SMG ADS drops faster than AR sprint to fire, close angles get cheaper to challenge and long lanes get riskier to hold alone.

What the multiplayer side said

The multiplayer note is short and honest about it. Friday's update was a tuning pass on every single weapon in the beta, aimed at a slight increase to time to kill without touching base health, so Saturday's multiplayer changes stay minimal while the team watches that land. The one concession is ammunition: guns carrying less than 60 rounds in reserve get an extra magazine, or the equivalent, because a longer time to kill burns more bullets per fight.

A longer time to kill is a bigger ask on your ammo than it is on your aim.

What is not settled

Nothing here says the Warzone handling values are coming to multiplayer. Infinity Ward has been explicit that the two are tuned separately, and CharlieIntel spent Saturday night arguing publicly that the Warzone movement and handling changes should be added to MW4 multiplayer, which is a reaction, not an announcement. The beta closes in days, launch is October 23, and the team has said on the record that time to kill still has work left and that the current aim assist tuning is not where it wants to end up.

Read it straight

The numbers above are Warzone numbers. If you are testing multiplayer this weekend, the values under your hands are Friday's time to kill pass plus Saturday's extra magazine, and nothing else moved.
