DISPATCH 2026.09 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: CONFIRMED

Your Black Ops 7 season clock just got its date.

Call of Duty put The Haunting on the calendar for September 17. That is the exact date the battle pass timer has been pointing at since September 1, and CharlieIntel says the trailer itself carries a Season 06 stamp. Nine days. That is what is left of the Black Ops 7 Ranked window as you currently know it.

On September 1 we wrote that Black Ops 7 Season 6 was a battle pass timer and a guess. On September 8 the guess got a trailer. Call of Duty's seasonal account posted The Haunting launch trailer and dated the event for September 17, with DOOM Slayer joining Black Ops 7 and Warzone. CharlieIntel, posting the same trailer, says it carries a Season 06 stamp on that date. The number the timer pointed at and the number Call of Duty just published are the same number.

Confidence

Dated by Call of Duty itself. The COD Live Seasons post and IGN's page for the same launch trailer both put The Haunting on September 17. The Season 06 label on that date comes from CharlieIntel reading the trailer, not from a season blog or patch notes, so treat the event date as locked and the season boundary as very likely rather than settled. No Ranked Play detail has been published at all.

What Call of Duty actually put on the calendar

  • September 17 The Haunting arrives in Black Ops 7 and Warzone. Stated in the COD Live Seasons post carrying the launch trailer, and repeated on IGN's page for that trailer.
  • DOOM crossover DOOM Slayer joins the game as part of the event. That is cosmetic content, and it tells you nothing about how a round plays.
  • Season 06 CharlieIntel reports the trailer marks the start of Season 06 on the same date. That is the reporting, not a season blog.
  • No time, no Ranked detail No start time, no rank reset date, no playlist list, no map or mode pool. None of that has been published.

Why Hardcore SnD cares about a Halloween event

You do not care about the skins. You care that Black Ops 7 Ranked Play is the only competitive Search and Destroy ladder running right now, that Modern Warfare 4 lands October 23, and that a season flip is the one event that reliably moves everything a team has practiced against. September 17 is now the date to plan around.

  • Rank pushes have a deadline If your team is chasing a placement before the MW4 cycle starts, you have roughly nine days of the current ladder to finish it. Season flips have historically carried rank resets, so plan as if this one does.
  • The map and mode pool is the thing to watch Search and Destroy pools move at season boundaries more than at any other time. Every callout, every default plant, and every retake read your squad has drilled is priced against the current pool.
  • Weapon tuning moves with the season A season patch is where time to kill and attachment values change. In one life per round, a tuning pass rewrites which duels you can take and which ones you have to trade out of.
  • It is the last stop before MW4 September 17 to October 23 is the final stretch of Black Ops 7 as the game your scrims run on. After that the whole league moves engines.
The event date is locked. The Ranked Play details that actually change your rounds have not been published at all.

What is still not confirmed, and what would verify it

Two things are still open. First, whether Season 06 formally begins on September 17 or whether The Haunting is an event landing inside a season that starts on a different day. CharlieIntel says the trailer carries the Season 06 stamp, and that lines up with the battle pass expiry Dexerto and Dot Esports read on September 1, but Activision has not published a season post. Second, and more important to a team, every Ranked Play detail. Nothing has been said about a rank reset, an SR change, or the Search and Destroy map and mode pool.

The Season 06 blog on callofduty.com and the Season 06 patch notes settle both. Those carry the season start time, the Ranked Play section, and the playlist list. If a season post lands with a start date other than September 17, that falsifies the Season 06 read here and we will correct this page. If patch notes name a rank reset on a separate date, that changes your deadline and we will update it.

Plan against

Treat September 17 as the last full day of the current Ranked window. Finish the push, bank the placement, and do not start a new grind on the current pool expecting it to survive the flip.

Nine days on the current ladder. Do not spend them solo.

Run the last of the Black Ops 7 window with a full squad in Task Force Drip, then bring that squad to Drip League when the MW4 cycle opens.
