DISPATCH 2026.09 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: CONFIRMED

The last Ranked sprint opens on an untuned gun meta

Black Ops 7 Season 06 went live September 17 with a new map, two new guns, and a Ranked Play SR change. What it did not bring is a single multiplayer weapon number. Treyarch says the tuning pass comes a short time after launch, which puts a balance change somewhere inside this game's last three-week Ranked window.

Black Ops 7 Season 06 went live September 17 and it is the last season this game gets. The official patch notes carry a new 6v6 map, two new guns, a Ranked Play SR change, and one line under Multiplayer that matters more for competitive play than any of it: weapon tuning is not in this update. Treyarch says the pass will come a short time after launch, once the team has seen where the newest weapons land in the meta.

Confidence

Confirmed. The Season 06 patch notes on callofduty.com state it directly under Multiplayer: weapon tuning is coming a short time after launch so the team can observe where the newest weapons land. Dexerto's Season 06 buff and nerf roundup read the same notes and found no multiplayer weapon numbers, only Zombies conversion kit changes.

Why Hardcore SnD cares

Season 06 Ranked Play is a three-week sprint. The gun meta you climb it on is the Season 05 Reloaded meta with two untested weapons dropped into it. Nothing about your loadout math changed on September 17. All of it can change while you are still ranking.

  • Your Season 05 Reloaded builds still hold. No multiplayer damage, range, or handling numbers moved at season launch, so the class setups you finished last season with are still the ones to run this week.
  • Two new guns enter untuned. The VMP submachine gun and the semi-auto TR51 Para assault rifle arrive through the Battle Pass with no balance pass behind them. If either is quietly strong in a one-life mode, it stays that way until the tuning lands.
  • The correction arrives mid-climb. A weapon pass dropping partway through a three-week sprint means the meta you qualified against in week one may not be the meta you finish in.
  • Scrim prep has a shelf life. Anything you lock this week, from anchor loadouts to which SMG holds a bomb site, should be treated as provisional until the numbers move.

What the notes actually say

Under Multiplayer, the Season 06 notes carry a single line where the weapon table usually sits: tuning is coming a short time after the launch of Season 06, to allow time for the team to observe where the newest weapons land in the meta. The only hard weapon numbers in the update are Zombies changes, a nerf to the Echo 12 Backlash Launcher conversion kit and a buff to the AK-27 Battle-Scar kit. Ranked Play did get changes, just not to guns: an extra loss penalty of 10 to 40 SR for finishing 5th through 8th on the scoreboard, reworked opponent rank adjustments at 3 and 6 rank tiers, and Exposure back in the map pool.

What is not confirmed yet

There is no date. A short time after launch is the whole commitment, and against a three-week Ranked window that phrase is doing a lot of work. The notes also do not say what the pass will touch, so there is no reading yet on whether the new weapons get pulled back, the standing meta gets shaken, or both.

The meta did not change on launch day. That is not stability, that is a delay.
Watch for

A Call of Duty Updates post or an in-season patch note carrying multiplayer weapon numbers. That is the moment your Season 06 Ranked prep needs a second look, and the moment to re-test whether the VMP survives a one-life mode.
