Modern Warfare 4 already had a gamescom appointment: Xbox said the game is playable in Core 6v6 at its booth during the show. Nintendo has now put it on a second one. CharlieIntel reports that Modern Warfare 4 is part of the nine-game lineup Nintendo published on August 5 for its Hall 9 booth in Cologne, and that it will be playable on Switch 2 there. The show floor is open August 26 through August 30.
Reported. This rests on CoD-native reporting of Nintendo's own lineup post, not on a Nintendo or Activision page we read directly. Several Nintendo-focused outlets carried the same nine-game lineup on August 5, which is why we are comfortable at reported. Nintendo's post names the game and the booth, nothing else, so treat everything past 'it is playable there' as unwritten.
Why Hardcore SnD cares
This is not a Nintendo story, it is a lobby story. Reporting on the Switch 2 version has said it runs in full crossplay with PS5, Xbox, and PC rather than in its own pool, which means a Switch 2 build is another hardware and input profile sitting in your Search lobby on launch night. One-life modes are the least forgiving place for a frame rate dip or an input latency gap, because you do not get a second attempt at the round to make it back. Right now nobody outside a controlled press session has seen that build move.
- Shared pool, shared consequences. If the crossplay reporting holds, Switch 2 performance is not somebody else's problem. It is a variable in the same bomb round you are playing.
- The timing is useful. The booth runs August 26 to 30 and the Open Beta window Activision published runs August 28 to September 1. Show-floor impressions and beta impressions will land in the same week, so you can read them against each other.
- Input is the open question. The Switch 2 build has been reported to support Joy-Con mouse aiming. Nobody has said how that is treated in matchmaking, and mixed-input lobbies are a live argument in every competitive Call of Duty.
What is not confirmed
Almost all of the detail. A booth lineup names a game, not a build. There is no word on which modes are in the Nintendo demo, so nothing here says Search and Destroy is playable at that booth, and nothing says Hardcore is. No resolution target, no frame rate target, and no statement on how Joy-Con mouse input is handled against controller or PC players. We also did not read Nintendo's announcement or an Activision post directly this run, so the claim is exactly as strong as the reporting on it.
A game being at a booth is a logistics fact. It tells you a build exists and can be shown in public. It tells you nothing about how it performs under a one-life ruleset, and the show floor is a loud, capped, curated environment that flatters everything.
What would verify it
Nintendo's own gamescom page or an Activision post naming the Switch 2 booth build and the modes it runs, which would move the booth claim to settled. For the part that actually matters to Search players, the verification is hands-on footage or press captures from the show floor with a readable frame rate, plus a crossplay menu in the Open Beta that shows how Switch 2 and mouse input are sorted.
