DISPATCH 2026.10 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: CONFIRMED

Your BIOS deadline is Monday morning, not launch day.

Call of Duty has put a clock on the Modern Warfare 4 PC security requirement. The update that carries it reaches every platform by 9AM PT on Monday, October 19, and the gate it enforces opens with DMZ Early Access at 10AM PT on Tuesday, October 20. For a PC player on a legacy BIOS, that hour is when the lockout starts, three days before the October 23 multiplayer launch.

The Modern Warfare 4 PC security bar has been public for weeks, and the date it switches on has been public since Call of Duty named October 20. What was missing was the hour, and the patch that brings it. Call of Duty Updates filled in both overnight: a required update is available on all platforms by 9AM PT on Monday, October 19, and DMZ Early Access opens globally at 10AM PT on Tuesday, October 20.

Confidence

Official and confirmed. Call of Duty Updates posted the required update window and the 10AM PT October 20 DMZ Early Access go-live itself, the official Call of Duty account tied the TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirement to that same October 20 launch, and Activision's support article states the Modern Warfare 4 penalty in writing. The one soft edge is internal to Activision: the same support article's generic failed attestation section still describes the milder Black Ops 7 penalty, so the harsher Modern Warfare 4 rule is official while its edges are not clean.

What Call of Duty put a clock on

  • The required update. Call of Duty Updates says the update needed for DMZ Early Access is available on all platforms by 9AM PT on Monday, October 19.
  • The hour. DMZ Early Access goes live globally at 10AM PT on Tuesday, October 20. That is one shared hour for everyone, not midnight where you live.
  • The requirement. The official Call of Duty account states that beginning October 20 with the DMZ Early Access launch, PC players need TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled, checked by Remote Attestation through Microsoft.
  • The penalty. Activision's support article states that Modern Warfare 4 players who do not meet the requirements are restricted from playing any online game mode. The Black Ops 7 and Warzone entry on the same page is milder: certain modes, Ranked Play, playlists, and a possible separate matchmaking pool.
  • The carry. Call of Duty Updates adds that XP and Weapon XP earned in DMZ Early Access count toward Modern Warfare 4 career progression and unlocks, Weapon Camos included.

Why hardcore Search and Destroy cares

Until this week the compliance deadline read like a launch week problem, something to sort out before the 23rd. The hours Call of Duty just posted move it forward. The client that enforces the gate is on your machine by Monday morning PT, and the gate itself opens Tuesday at 10AM PT. Anyone on the roster who has not run the attestation wizard has the weekend, not the week.

  • Audit before Sunday night. Every PC player needs to run the Secure Attestation Wizard and report the result. BIOS work is not same day work, and a firmware update or an MBR to GPT conversion can eat an evening.
  • A failed check is not a worse queue. Under the Modern Warfare 4 line it is no queue at all. No Hardcore Search, no private match to practice in, no scrim on that account.
  • One shared hour helps the roster. A 10AM PT global unlock means a five does not have to solve time zones to get its first three days of weapon levels together. Pick the call time once.
  • The three day ramp is real. DMZ Early Access XP and Weapon XP carry into Modern Warfare 4 progression, so a player locked out on October 20 walks into launch night behind the ones who were not.
A BIOS setting is a roster availability question, and the answer is due Monday.

What is still unstated

Call of Duty has not published a per platform unlock hour for the October 23 multiplayer launch beyond the midnight local time on its own PC page, and it has not said whether the October 20 attestation gate is re-checked when multiplayer opens or simply stays on from there. Activision has also not reconciled its own support article, where the generic failed attestation section still carries the milder Black Ops 7 penalty while the game-specific section states the Modern Warfare 4 lockout. Plan against the strict reading, because it is the one written under Modern Warfare 4's name.
