The launch map pool has names. Press reporting from the MW4 multiplayer reveal lists all 12 core 6v6 maps, and says every one of them supports the standard 6v6 playlists, Search and Destroy included. The one carve-out is Kill Block, the Crash-style map that launches in Gunfight formats only. For hardcore Search teams this is the first real prep signal: a finite list to learn instead of an open question.
Reported. The names are consistent across Insider Gaming, Dexerto, and OGHUB, but there is no official callofduty.com map page yet, and the Search support is a reported inference from the general mode confirmation, not an official map-to-mode matrix. The names are public; the layouts are not.
The 12 launch maps
The reported core 6v6 launch pool:
- Silkworm
- Reactor
- Rooftops
- Mumbai
- Lithium
- Munition
- Cachette
- Nautical
- Lotus
- Sentry
- Coal
- Transit 213
That is the list to keep an eye on. Resist the urge to draw layouts from the names. A map called Rooftops or Transit 213 might read vertical or lane-heavy, but nobody has seen these spaces play yet, and one-life rounds punish assumptions hard. Treat the names as folders to fill once footage and beta access land.
How to prep now
You cannot study geometry that has not been shown. What you can do is build the process that turns a fresh map into a known map fast, so your team is first to figure out the pool instead of last.
- Set a footage routine: Assign maps to people now. The moment reveal or beta footage drops, each player owns first-pass callouts and bomb-site reads for their maps.
- Standardize callouts early: Agree on how you name angles and sites before launch. The teams that win the first weeks are the ones already speaking the same language.
- Drill transferable habits: Trades, plant discipline, post-plant spacing, and retake timing carry across any map. Sharpen those in the Field Manual while the pool is still on paper.
You get the names now and the layouts later. The team that prepped the process wins the gap.
What is not confirmed
The official map-to-mode matrix. Search support for all 12 is a press read, not a Call of Duty playlist page, and map layouts have not been revealed. Kill Block is the known exception: reported as Gunfight-only at launch, with wider mode support on the post-launch roadmap. Hold any map-specific Search plan until official menus or the beta confirm it.
What would verify it
An official callofduty.com multiplayer or map page, a beta playlist screen showing the map names, or an Infinity Ward post listing launch maps with a mode support matrix. Any of those turns this list from reported into locked.
