DISPATCH 2026.07 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: CONFIRMED

Kill Block launches Gunfight only. Search and Destroy waits for a later season.

Call of Duty has put an official stamp on the Kill Block question we flagged as unsettled. The reconfiguring West Bridge map ships on October 23 running expanded Gunfight only, the returning 3v3 and a new 10v10. Search and Destroy and the rest of the core modes are promised for a later post-launch season, with no date attached yet.

When we last touched the Kill Block story, we walked back an over-certain call and told you the launch-mode reporting genuinely conflicted. Call of Duty has now settled it. The official Kill Block Intel post lays out exactly what the reconfiguring West Bridge map runs on day one, and Search and Destroy is not on that list yet.

Confidence

Confirmed. Call of Duty's own Kill Block Intel post and the PlayStation Blog both state the map launches Gunfight only, so the launch-mode call is settled and our earlier correction can close. What is not pinned down is when Search and Destroy joins Kill Block: the studio only says a future post-launch season, with no date.

What Call of Duty actually confirmed

Kill Block is the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, a live-fire compound built from three modular slabs: two outer End Slabs bracketing a Central Slab that rearrange between matches and even between certain Gunfight rounds. Call of Duty promises more than 500 possible configurations at launch. At release on October 23, the map runs expanded Gunfight only, the returning 3v3 and an all-new Gunfight 10v10. The studio says additional core Multiplayer modes are engineered to arrive in future post-launch seasons.

Gunfight only at launch. Search and Destroy is a later-season promise, not a day-one mode.

Why Hardcore SnD cares

Search and Destroy prep is map prep: memorized routes, bomb-site approaches, crossfires, and post-plant angles. Kill Block breaks that on purpose by reshaping itself round to round, and for launch you cannot even scrim Search on it because the mode is not there. That keeps Kill Block a Gunfight curiosity for the first stretch of MW4's life while the 12 core 6v6 maps carry the real one-life pool.

  • Do not build launch scrims around it Kill Block carries no Search at release, so it stays off the competitive map board until a later season adds core modes.
  • Gunfight is the tell 3v3 Gunfight on a shifting layout is good aim and clutch practice, but it will not teach the site geography Search rewards.
  • Watch the season drops The moment that matters for teams is whenever a post-launch season finally puts Search on West Bridge, and whether it reaches ranked or private play.

What is still open

The one thing Call of Duty did not give is timing. Additional core modes are promised for future seasons with no date, and there is no word yet on whether Kill Block's eventual Search support reaches ranked or private matches or stays in casual playlists. Until a patch note names it, treat Search on Kill Block as coming, not here.
