DISPATCH 2026.10 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: CONFIRMED

Three days in DMZ land in your Multiplayer rank.

Call of Duty's Forward Operating Base guide spells out how Modern Warfare 4 splits its progression tracks, and the split is lopsided. DMZ XP feeds the standard Level 1 to 55 Player Progression, and weapon level is shared between Multiplayer and DMZ, but XP earned in Multiplayer or Warzone does not touch your DMZ level. DMZ Early Access opens October 20 and Multiplayer opens October 23, which makes the three days in between a one-way ramp into launch night.

We published the Modern Warfare 4 early access calendar yesterday with one progression fact attached: weapon level is shared between Multiplayer and DMZ. Call of Duty's Forward Operating Base guide carries more than that. It lays out the full progression plumbing, and the part worth your attention is the direction it flows. DMZ pours into your Multiplayer account. Your Multiplayer account pours nothing back.

Confidence

Official. Call of Duty's own DMZ Forward Operating Base guide states the rules directly: XP from the 1 to 70 DMZ track also contributes to the 1 to 55 Player Progression, weapon level is shared between Multiplayer and DMZ, and Multiplayer or Warzone XP does not contribute to DMZ level. What the guide does not publish is the XP rate, so how far ahead three days of DMZ actually puts a player is still unmeasured.

What the guide actually says

  • XP flows one way. The guide states that XP earned in the 1 to 70 DMZ Player Progression also contributes to your overall 1 to 55 Player Progression, and that XP earned in Multiplayer or Warzone does not contribute to your DMZ level.
  • Weapon level is shared. Weapon progression counts across both Multiplayer and DMZ, and the attachments you can access are unlocked by leveling the weapon in either mode.
  • Attachments unlock once. A Shared Attachment is unlocked a single time across every compatible weapon. If a weapon level would hand you an attachment you already own, the guide says you skip that level with a Bonus Level Up.
  • The DMZ Gunsmith is gated. Inside DMZ, the Vendor unlocks at DMZ Player Level 5 and the Gunsmith at DMZ Player Level 10, so building weapons in the Forward Operating Base is not available from your first deployment.
  • Prestige stays separate. DMZ Operator Prestige is its own system, separate from the 1 to 55 Player Progression, the 1 to 70 DMZ track, and the other Modern Warfare 4 Prestige systems.

Why Hardcore SnD cares

Multiplayer does not open until October 23, so nobody is getting early one-life reps. What they are getting is an account. Three days of DMZ deployments against AI and other extraction players is not Search and Destroy practice, but it is weapon levels, shared attachment unlocks, and movement up the 1 to 55 track that arrive in your Multiplayer profile the moment the mode opens. A stack that treats October 20 to 23 as a gun grind walks into launch night with Gunsmith options, and a stack that waits does not.

  • The attachment race starts before the mode does. Hardcore Search and Destroy loadout discipline is mostly attachment discipline. Suppressors, control attachments, and the sight you actually trust all sit behind weapon level, and weapon level is now farmable three days early.
  • Your launch-night lobby will be uneven. Expect day-one opponents who are not day-one accounts. That is not a complaint, it is a scouting note: assume some of the field has builds you cannot copy yet.
  • Pick your grind weapon now, not on the 23rd. Because shared attachments only unlock once, leveling one or two guns you actually intend to run in Search is worth more than spreading XP across a locker you will never bring to a one-life round.
  • DMZ is a means, not a mode to learn. You do not need to get good at extraction to benefit. You need deployments that survive long enough to put rounds through the gun you care about.
Nobody gets early Search reps. Some people get early guns.

What the guide does not tell you

The rules are published. The rates are not. Call of Duty says DMZ XP contributes to the 1 to 55 track without saying how much, and it does not say what that track unlocks in Multiplayer at which level. So treat the three-day head start as real but unsized. Anyone telling you exactly how many ranks a weekend in Hajin is worth is guessing, and the only way to find out is the October 20 build itself.

If you are not pre-ordered

Early Access is tied to a digital pre-order, so the DMZ ramp is not open to everyone. If you are buying at launch, the counter-move is simple: know your first Search loadout cold, and spend launch night leveling the one gun you plan to run rather than chasing camo challenges across five.
