The Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta had a hard stop on the calendar: September 1 at 10:00 AM PT, printed on the official beta page and in the Weekend Two Intel blog. It is not stopping there. Infinity Ward posted that the beta is extended until 10:00 PM PT tonight, citing players still grinding Beta Rewards and camos, and the official Call of Duty account carried the same message. Double XP and Double Weapon XP stay on until close.
Confirmed. Infinity Ward and the official Call of Duty account both posted the extension directly, which is as official as a schedule change gets. One thing to know: the callofduty.com beta page and the Weekend Two Intel blog still listed the original 10:00 AM PT end time when we read them for this piece, so go by the studio accounts here, not the static pages.
Why Hardcore SnD cares
Twelve hours is not a rounding error at the end of a beta. It is the difference between finishing the unlock ladder and going into launch guessing. Weekend Two raised the Player Level cap to 30, and the pieces a Search and Destroy player actually cares about, the perk combinations, the Killstreak costs after the economy pass, and the Apex Attachments on the guns you plan to run, sit at the top of that ladder. If you were three levels short at breakfast, you are not short any more.
- Level 30 is reachable now. Double XP and Double Weapon XP run until close, so the last stretch of the ladder is the fastest it has been all beta.
- The tuning you are testing is the final beta build. Infinity Ward's last weapon pass is already live, so anything you learn about time to kill and gun handling tonight is the closest read on launch you will get before October 23.
- One more window on the SnD map pool. Search and Destroy sits in Quick Play alongside Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Inflation, and Hijack, so you can still bank callouts on Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lotus, and Lithium.
- Beta Rewards carry to the full game. The eight reward unlocks, including the Level 30 Beta Forged blueprint for the Han 86, only exist during the beta and come with you at launch.
The official pages have not caught up
Worth flagging plainly, because it will confuse people tonight. When we checked for this piece, callofduty.com/modernwarfare4/beta still answered the question "When is the Open Beta?" with August 28 at 10:00 AM PT through September 1 at 10:00 AM PT, and the Weekend Two Intel blog still read "scheduled to end at 10:00 AM PT on Tuesday, September 1." Both carry the standard note that beta dates and times are subject to change. The studio accounts are the live source here. If you send someone the beta page to prove the beta is over, you will be wrong by twelve hours.
How to spend the extra hours
If you only have one more session in you, spend it on the things you cannot test after tonight. Run Search and Destroy, not respawn modes, because one life changes what you need to know about every angle. Check what the reduced footstep range and the bomb audio fix actually feel like from the defending side. Take the guns you expect to run at launch into a real round rather than the Firing Range, and pay attention to whether the last tuning pass moved your time to kill where you wanted it. Then go finish the ladder.
The beta page says it is over. The studio says you have until 10 PM. Believe the studio.
