DISPATCH 2026.08 / INTEL CONFIDENCE: REPORTED

The AN-94 gets its teeth back, and they are all in the upper body

Black Ops 7 Season 05 Reloaded lands August 20, and reporting on the multiplayer patch notes says the AN-94 trades most of its maximum damage range for much heavier headshot, neck and upper torso multipliers. Call of Duty has published the Warzone notes for the same update. The multiplayer table has not surfaced anywhere we could read it on the official site.

Season 05 Reloaded goes live on August 20 at 9 AM PT, one day before Call of Duty NEXT and the Modern Warfare 4 beta. Call of Duty has posted the Warzone patch notes for that update. The multiplayer side, which is the one that matters if you are still running Black Ops 7 lobbies, has been reported out by Dexerto rather than posted anywhere we could open it, and the headline change is a rework of the AN-94 that Season 05 nerfed last month.

Confidence

Reported. The multiplayer weapon tables come from Dexerto's read of the Black Ops 7 Season 05 Reloaded patch notes, and we could not reach an official multiplayer patch notes page this run. Call of Duty's own Warzone notes for the same update are live and confirm the mid season pass ships August 20, so treat the direction of travel as solid and the exact multiplayer numbers as reported until the official page is up.

What the multiplayer pass reportedly does

  • AN-94 maximum damage range drops from about 37 meters to about 20 meters, with a new middle tier filling the gap. The headshot multiplier climbs from 1.15x to 1.35x and neck and upper torso multipliers of 1.2x are added, so the gun is faster than before if you hit high and slower if you spray a chest.
  • FG42 damage stays put but every range band shrinks. Aim down sight time goes from 290ms to 300ms, slide to fire and dive to fire each grow by 10ms, recoil goes up, and a 15 percent movement penalty while firing in aim down sight is added.
  • Mammoth base damage comes down across all three bands while the headshot multiplier rises to 1.3x. Sprint to fire goes from 260ms to 270ms and the aim down sight firing movement penalty goes from 20 percent to 25 percent.
  • EGRT-17 a one point bump to maximum damage, aimed at making a class leading damage range worth picking up again.
  • Gremlin reload times improve by 20 percent across every magazine option, which is the akimbo SMG's main tax.
  • M34 Novaline Garand Conversion damage up, range roughly halved, upper arm multipliers removed and view kick increased, so one shot kills now demand tighter aim.

Why Hardcore SnD cares

Hardcore strips health down, and that changes which half of a patch note is actually about you. Damage numbers move shots to kill in Core lobbies far more often than they do in Hardcore, where most rifles are already killing inside one or two hits and a one point damage edit disappears into the health pool. What survives the health change completely untouched is everything about how fast a gun gets from running to firing. This pass is full of exactly that.

  • Handling is the real nerf the FG42 and Mammoth both got slower to bring up and slower to fire while moving. In a one life round those milliseconds decide who wins the first peek onto a site, and no health setting softens them.
  • Hit location now decides the AN-94 the reported rework pushes its speed into headshots, neck and upper torso. That rewards anyone already holding a crosshair at head height down a lane and punishes panic spray at a body.
  • Range discipline changed if the maximum damage window really does shrink from about 37 meters to about 20 meters, the AN-94 stops being a free answer to a long site hold and becomes a mid range tool you have to walk into position.
  • Check the Ranked pool before you rebuild we have not verified which of these guns are legal in Black Ops 7 Ranked Play, so confirm the restriction list in game before you rebuild a class around this patch.
In Hardcore the damage table argues. The handling table decides.

What is not confirmed

We could not open an official Black Ops 7 multiplayer patch notes page for Season 05 Reloaded this run. The patch notes hub does not link one and direct URL attempts returned nothing, so every multiplayer number above comes from Dexerto's reporting rather than a page we read on callofduty.com. One more trap worth naming: Call of Duty's own Warzone notes for this same update list a completely different AN-94 table, with damage and range going up rather than down. That is normal, because the two titles are tuned separately, but it means the Warzone figures being shared around today are not your multiplayer figures and reading them as such will send you into a lobby expecting the wrong gunfight.

What would verify it

An official Black Ops 7 Season 05 Reloaded multiplayer patch notes page on callofduty.com carrying these same tables would settle it, and that is the first thing we check on the next pass. Failing that, the update goes live August 20 at 9 AM PT, so the AN-94's behavior against a still target in a private match will answer the range and multiplier questions inside ten minutes. If the official page shows different multiplayer values, or the tuning turns out to be Warzone only, we will correct this page.
